if you really knew me

I saw one of my favorite bloggers post this on her site yesterday and I absolutely loved it.  So I thought I would give you something a bit more personal, seeing as how I haven't done that in a minute.  Here goes nothing...

If you really knew me, you would know I'm actually kind of shy.  Outside of work, where I can go into another zone and deal with strangers head on, I'm quiet unless I'm around close friends or family.  Sometimes people mistake me for a bitch because I don't like looking them in the eye if I don't know them.  It's not that I think I'm too good to look at them, it's just that I can't.  I don't know.  I chalk it up to being shy and that's that.  Think what you want, but I assure you I'm a nice person.

If you really knew me, you'd know that I have anxiety issues.  No, I'm not a recluse that stays in the house all the time, but I often think of things normal people don't and get a little paranoid.  I don't like grocery stores, but I love to cook so I have to go, and I think I'm the only girl who doesn't like malls, but loves to shop.  And it gets stranger, I love going to concerts and clubs, and dancing with strangers poses no problem to me.  I'm a walking contradiction.  I know.

If you really knew me, you'd know it takes me about two hours to settle down at night.  I've been known to stay up all night if not forced to go to bed by my boyfriend.  I know I worry him, but I think late hours are typical when you're a writer.  And not only do I write, sometimes I'll spend hours at night cleaning or laying there with my headphones on because I can't shut my mind off.  This stems from my ten hour work day and the fact that I'm a fast paced person and on the go all day, every day.  I don't like to be held in one place for too long.  And apparently my bed is one of those places...unless I'm moving in it.  ;)

If you really knew me, you'd know one of my favorite things is preparing a large meal for friends or family.  There is nothing better to me than using the best ingredients and setting out my good dishes for a home cooked meal.  I'll make a playlist, set out my ingredients just so and spend hours in the kitchen on a lazy day.  One person will text another and by dinner time people will just show up because they know it's going to be good.  Those are the kind of nights where I sleep the best, knowing everyone had a great time, great food, and lots of wine.

If you really knew me, you'd know that as much as I complain about the snow, I love living in Michigan.  Before we moved here from Texas some fourteen years ago I had never experienced the four seasons.  Texas only has one, hot.  :D  To see the leaves change in the fall and to sit at the beach on Lake Michigan to watch the sunset in the summer, I think West Michigan is one of the most beautiful places anyone could possibly live.  One of my favorite things to do is go to Mt. Baldhead State Park in the fall and look out over Saugatuck when all the boats are about to be pulled for the season, and see all the leaves.  I'm a total fall nut. If you are one too, then you know exactly what I mean - candles and farmer's markets and cider...oh my.  LOL.

Here are some pictures of the area:

Okay, last one!  If you really knew me, you'd know much I love to dance.  From an early age I went to classes for ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop...you name it and I did it.  My mom claims she threw me in class to get my 'yayas' out, but I don't think she realized how much I'd love it.  All throughout high school and even college, until I sustained a knee injury that tore me up a bit, I danced my heart out.  There was nothing better to me than stretching out my muscles and moving to a beat, sometimes of my own making, to expend my energy.  I also think dance has made me a more passionate and observant person.  It's something you live and breathe and become a part of.  Before I started writing I didn't think I'd ever have a passion like it in the world.  But thankfully I found something to compensate what I had to leave behind.  Not all of it, though, because you can bet your ass I still have dance parties around the house and shake it at the club.  ;)

What about you guys?  Tell me something about yourself that makes you unique or something you love or hate.  Hugs.  Love you guys!

~xX Night

  1. If you really knew me, you'd know that I love babies. I love to cuddle, I love to comfort. I definitely could NOT have another one myself! ;) My goal when I retire is to become a "cuddle-mum" in one of the local hospitals. These CM's are wonderful people who spend time helping in the special care nurseries when mum or dad can't be with their babies. Research has shown that bubs who are held often thrive better than those who aren't. My babies are now 17 & 12 yet I still am unable to hear a baby in distress without wanting to hold and comfort it. It upsets me greatly when I can't.

    1. I'm not a mother, so I cant completely understand that kind of bond, but I do love to hold babies. :) To sit in nusery all day, surrounded by them would be a joy. Thanks for sharing hun.

  2. If you really knew me, you'd know how painfully shy I am and how I can't call anyone on the phone. I use humor to hide how insecure I am when I'm in a big group of people. Even when people say they like my writing I don't believe them. You'd also know that you were the first author I read on Literotica, and you are partially to "blame" for getting me addicted to all of this. I love it, though, so thanks. :)

    1. You and I share quite a bit then. I hate talking on the phone. I always feel awkward. Lol. I also use humor as a weapon when I'm feeling shy. I hate b2ing the center of attention and I always feel like I am when I'm in a group. Rhanks so much for sharing and I'm seriously flattered. I'm glad you gave it a go with writing. Your work is excellent.

  3. If you really knew me, you'd know that I come from pioneer stock. It's true. My family arrived here starting in 1732 and my ancestors fought in the Revolution and the Civil War and most other wars, too. They included privateers and foot soldiers, abolitionists and slave owners, indentured servants and landed gentlemen, coal miners and inventors. Some ancestors traveled down the Ohio River by flatboat and wrote about fighting the natives whose land they were stealing. Others were horse thieves in Oklahoma during the 1800s and got themselves hung. A few wrote or made things that ended up in museums. These days, we're considered respectable. :) But that's part of the reason I'm so avid about history.

  4. If you really knew me, you would know that I'm trying really hard to succeed in life all by myself. If you really knew me, you would see that I love doing stuff for people just because I can. I am Russian, and have much pride in my heritage. If you really knew me, you would know that I enjoy culture and different lifestyles. The more bizarre, tell me more! I'm an open, honest, and caring person. You'll get me now, but stick around you'll get my past!

    Love this,
    Thanks!

  5. Hey! I have been reading alot of your books and have loved them all <3
They are adorable, touching, sweet and romantic.
I find myself checking on here way to often for someone as busy as me!
I just sort of wanted to let you know that the stories have really helped me, and I appreciate all the hard work you put into them.
I would also like to reiterate the point that others have made in saying that you shouldn't feel rushed. Just because were hanging off the edges of our keyboards for your next story doesn't meen you should rush through it. I know that I am content to wait, knowing that the story will be better if the author has time to truly develop it!

I also have started my own blog of sorts that I am not sure is really about yet.
I guess being on here just sort of led me to want to right my thoughts down online!
I'd love your feedback on some of my rants if you ever have time!
