My Readers Have Spoken: My Next Series Is...

Hey everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, even if it wasn't a holiday for you.  It was nice to hear everyone's opinions on what series to start next.  I missed seeing all of your comments these past few months.  So, that was pretty neat.  :)

As most of you guessed, the next series will be:

A VAMPIRE STORY!!!

(You know you just laughed.  Or at the very least smiled.)

I've been messing around with the title of the series and I've officially decided to go with The Second City Tales.  Each story will be around 100 pages long...  maybe a little longer if I get really into it.  In reality they won't technically be shorts, but more like novellas.  So please don't think you're in for a super whirlwind of mini-stories.  lol

I know some of you were a little worried about the addition of more vampires on top of the Guardian cast in my other series.  Fear not!  This series will be entirely separate, save for a few minor characters from the other series to glue them together in the same world.  The Second City boys might visit some of the same places and have a phone conversation or a meeting with the Guardians and company from time to time, but I assure you this will take place in their own community.

I really wanted to delve into the other side of the vampire world I created.  I wanted to take a closer look at the Second City Oliver put together, the dealers, street life for a human turned vampire, and what everyday life was like for those that didn't live at the compound.

That said, I'm happy to announce the first Second City Tale will start at the end of July and will be titled Shelter Me.  The story will follow Greg, a SC shelter employee in the heart of Soho, and Trey, an ex dealer running from his dirty past.  I don't want to give out all the details at the moment, but know you're in for more action and drama and sexy lovin'.  HAHA.

For those of you who voted for One Hundred Little Things, I want you to know I'm not throwing it out.  I definitely want to write that story... really bad.  It'll happen.  :)

One last thing before I go, I do want some more feedback, but on a different story.  What do you guys think of Hedgewater?  I'll be honest and say the views are a little dismal compared to my other stuff and I knew I took a risk by doing something completely different.  But are you guys still enjoying it enough to keep it around?  If not, let me know.  No hurt feelings, I promise.  :)  I'm just curious to know as I plan what I need to do for the rest of the summer.

I hope that wasn't information overload.  I apologize if it was.  Leave me a comment, you guys!!  :D

*Hugs*

~xX Night

  2. I'm sorry to say that not even your excellent writing can make me love soap operas lol I've never enjoyed them in any form. I tried to like Hedgewater, I really did, but unfortunately you did the genre too well which was its downfall for me. :(

Thank you for sharing your different worlds with us.

  13. I love hedgewater, but when it first came out and it being on the other site I waited here for updates here and it was a little harder to get into at first but now I always check for a new episode on Sunday, and the holiday royal short was so good made making coffee all day worth it.

  15. Hahaha I swear I made that face when I read this. I like Hedgewater and would like to continue reading it. I think the idea of a soap opera style story turned some off but as long as it has a good storyline, interesting characters, and some hot lovin I'm sold. I enjoy your explorations into new styles and characters.
As for the vampire story winning...shocked lol. I'm sure most of us saw that coming a mile away. I would have been happy with anything you wrote. I've yet to read anything of yours I've hated but admittedly your vampires have been some of my favorite characters ever conjured. As far as keeping up with more couples, I don't see that being a problem. I have all my couples intact even those I'm secretly hoping you put together in your future novels.

  16. I'm glad you're not giving up the idea of One Hundred Little Things - your preview really pulled me in and I'd love to read that some time in the future ;) Also, I love Hedgewater. I wasn't so sure at first whether it would be my thing, since I'm not a fan of soap operas. However, I still love this one and keep checking back for updates.

  17. I really like Hedgewater now but it took me a while to get used to it. One problem might be its being on another site, I mostly forget to check.
And it needs new audience. Post a few chapters somewhere else and I bet people will come begging for more, probably even knocking on your door in the middle of midnight.
Anyhow don't stop writing about the boys, I want to read something good happens to Shay and River, and there are plenty of boys I want to kill, you can even send a vampire to dry them :-P

  18. For those who only read the first installment of Hedgewater, I think they need to keep reading. The storyline is fantastic, but it takes a bit to get into the meat of the story since it is "soap opera" style and there's set up that needed to happen before you could really get into the drama that we readers have come to know and love from you. Your work is always full of energy and life. Keep pluggin away!!

  19. Really glad you're going to write the One Hundred Little Things! Sooo looking forward to it.

Hedgewater.. I read it every week, trying to like it but I just feel like the characters aren't real(I'm 18 and none of those things I've ever heard anyone say) so I can't get into it :/ but the story itself has an interesting storyline which keeps me coming back haha!

  20. I'm really enjoying Hedgewater. I think it has all the sexy drama we would associate with your work and I look forward to it. I wonder if the reduced response has anything to do with it being on a site separate from your blog? I know it seems petty, but some people like to find their fix in one spot and maybe have been hesitant to look elsewhere as if it's not part of your work?

Just a thought. It may have little merit. I will keep reading your work regardless. I love it all.

  21. Continue on with the Hedgewater series please!! After the first installment I was a little iffy about continuing with it but the story line is great and now I can't wait for the rest. Thanks for not scrapping the 100 little things story - that is the one I voted on, but I can't wait for Shelter me!!

  22. Looking forward to new stuff! And I too really enjoy Hedgewater, the characters & plot are really interesting (rooting for Shay & River to find their way back to each other! And glad that Jagger and Kelly have become such close friends, with this sexy undercurrent of flirting between them...) Can't wait to read more, I think it's some of your best work, especially in terms of emotional complexity... Loving it!

  23. I'm really not enjoying Hedgewater. I love your stuff so much I read it any way but to be honest every time I log on and see the new post is a Hedgewater one rather than another series (dying for the Taming Fire finale!!) I groan with disappointment. Bring on more vamps! xx

  24. I love Hedgewater! I'm not sure about the 'soap opera' title because I normally equate that to really bad daytime TV with cheesy dialogue that your writing could just never be! It's like most of your other writing, a dramedy. It's just in Hedgewater we get a lot of drama and comedy in one swoop instead of having a lot of progression and growing emotions like your other stories. And I love the mystery and dangerous aspects of it too :)

  25. I'm addicted to Hedgewater! Please don't give up on it. The soap opera idea threw me off at first, but I read it anyway because, come on its you writing it & You never disappoint. And you lived up to your reputation, Hedgewater sucked me in. Now I can't wait to find out what kind of interesting situations the boys will find themselves in next.

  26. *Comes out of Lurking Mode to make this post* I love Hedgewater! Don't give up on it! I am definitely NOT rooting for Shay and River, though. Not after Shay just stood there and watched! Bad Shay, no River for you! -.- I'm glad that Jagger has found a friend in Kelly, and vice-versa. Also, I just want to bitch slap Owen so hard. -.- *Goes back into Lurking Mode*

  27. I like Hedgewater but not as much as I love vampires stories, looking forward to read the new story and keep the good work coming, because we freaking love it!:)
